Maharashtra government allows 25 per cent Spectators in the IPL, teams will begin practising in mid-March.

The state government said that while COVID-19 instances are on the decline, the audience restriction has been set at 25%, and only fully vaccinated fans will be allowed into the stadiums, according to an official statement released in the evening here.

This came after the Maharashtra government met with the BCCI and the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) on Wednesday to discuss the smooth running of the IPL, which is now a 10-team affair.

The meeting was attended by state ministers Aaditya Thackeray and Eknath Shinde, as well as MCA chairman Vijay Patil, apex council members Ajinkya Naik and Abhay Hadap, and treasurer Jagdish Achrekar.

It was previously reported that IPL teams will begin practising in the city on March 14 or 15 and that five practise venues have been identified.

Authorities are said to have identified the MCA ground in suburban Bandra Kurla Complex, the MCA ground in Thane, the Dr DY Patil University ground and a football pitch, as well as the CCI (Cricket Club of India) and the Reliance Corporate Park ground in Ghansoli as practise venues for the cash-rich tournament.

Players are expected to begin arriving in the city on March 8. All participants would be subjected to RT-PCR tests 48 hours prior to their arrival in Mumbai.

State minister Aditya Thackrey announced this in a series of tweets.
