    Delimitation Commission draft proposes major changes in J&K

    The Delimitation Commission has proposed major changes in the geographical boundaries of the Assembly and Lok Sabha constituencies of Jammu and Kashmir. The commission has proposed redrawing of the Anantnag parliamentary seat by merging into it Rajouri and Poonch districts located across Pir Panjal in Jammu province.

    A survey by the Indian Council of Medical Research into hospital data has revealed that due to third wave of Covid-19 pandemic, a comparatively younger population was more infected. The data has been sourced from 37 hospitals across the country, director general of ICMR, Dr Balram Bhargava said.

    Action against 160 TV channels for anti-India content: MIB

    The government on Thursday said it was concerned about the freedom of speech and expression and that the country was not in the times of 1975 or the Emergency. The government had initiated action against 160 TV channels and blocked 60 channels on YouTube, Facebook and Twitter pages as their content was against the integrity and safety of the nation.

    COVID-19: India records 1,72,433 new cases in 24 hours, active cases decline to 15,33,921

    The daily positivity rate was recorded at 10.99 per cent and the weekly positivity rate was recorded at 12.98 per cent, according to the ministry. The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 3,97,70,414, while the case fatality rate was recorded at 1.19 per cent.

    Fresh snowfall in Shimla and Manali, Leh Manali Highway closed

    The Meteorological Department has forecast rain and snowfall in the state till February 6 and has issued a yellow alert. According to the Lahaul Spiti Police, the Leh Manali Highway is closed due to snowfall and it is snowing continuously. There is about 1 feet of snow on the road and no vehicles are allowed.

    Ministry of Education issues new guidelines on the reopening of schools

    Union Ministry of Education has issued new modified guidelines on the reopening of educational institutions in different parts of the country. Now, Centre has allowed states to decide if parental consent is needed by school students to attend physical classes. Under the previous set of guidelines issued on 5th Oct 2020, by Health Ministry, the states and UTs had to mandatorily take the consent of parents or guardians. States and Union territories have been asked to add these modified guidelines in the existing school Sops for the reopening of schools.
