For the second time in less than a week, Airtel customers are having major service issues. A large network outage is affecting Bengaluru and other cities in South India. DownDetector, a site that keeps track of IT problems, reports that complaints about the service outage peaked at 12:11 PM on Sunday, when more than 6,800 people said they were upset.
The current outage has largely affected people in Karnataka, although there have also been reports of disruptions in Chennai and Hyderabad. This problem comes just a few days after a similar countrywide outage on Monday, August 18, when thousands of Airtel customers couldn’t make calls, send texts, or use mobile broadband.
People have taken to social media to complain about the service that constantly breaking down and isn’t reliable. Airtel hasn’t said anything formally about the problem, but some customers have gotten automated text messages from the company indicating there is a “technical issue” and that engineers are working to fix it. One of these messages is reported to have warned a customer that Wi-Fi will be out until 6:00 PM on Sunday.
A lot of people are upset about the constant interruptions, and some are even doubting the reliability of one of India’s top phone companies. The most recent outage is a vivid reminder of how hard it is to keep everyone connected in a country with a lot of people who use the internet.
