The Programmes Will Start At 8 A.m On July 15 With ‘Devi Abhishekam' And ‘Dhwajarohana' And End With Food Distribution – ‘Annadanam' – At 12 Noon On August 01. And The Main ‘Bonalu' Festival Will Be Celebrated On July 24 And 25. On July 24, The Deity Will Receive A Set Of New ‘Pattuvastram' From The Government As Per The Tradition, And Offerings From The People. Cultural Programmes Including Welcoming Of ‘Potaraju' And The Grand Procession, Are Lined Up For July 25, Said G Mahesh Goud, Temple Advisory Committee Chairman Said At A Press Conference Here On Sunday.
Mr. Goud Demanded The Government Should Recognise ‘Bonalu' As A ‘State Festival'. He Charged The Government Of Not Responding To The Demand Which Was Put Forward By The Lal Darwaza Temple Committee Eight Years Ago, In 2003. He Also Demanded That Government Declare A Public Holiday On The Festival Day To Allow Unhindered Participation Of People In The Festivities.
Stating That ‘Bonalu' Is A Community Festival Mr. Goud Sought A Grant Of Rs. 15 Crore Be Allotted Every Year To Develop The Temple And Surrounding Places. He Also Said That The Festival Should Be Introduced In The School Curricula To Educate The Children About Its Importance. The Temple Will Be Celebrating The Festival For The 103{+r}{+d} Year.
