Rampur MP and yesteryears’ glamour queen Jayaprada appears to have decided to test her political fortunes in her home state of Andhra Pradesh, as there is none to take care of her interests in Uttar Pradesh after the arrest of her friend, philosopher and guide Amar Singh.
On Saturday, Jayaprada met Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy at the latter’s camp office at Begumpet along with school education minister S Sailajanath, raising many eyebrows in the political circles. Though the party sources say it was only a courtesy call, there are speculations that Jayaprada is contemplating joining the Congress party sooner or later.
Apparently, Jayaprada’s political future hangs in balance after the arrest of Amar Singh. She is not sure whether he would be able to come out of the mess and even if he does, whether he has the capabilities of running his party – Rashtriya Lok Manch – independently. There is no cadre-base for the party as such. So, she has to choose any major party for her political survival. It is believed that Amar Singh himself had advised Jayaprada to take the political asylum in the Congress party in Andhra Pradesh. She cannot go back to the Telugu Desam Party; initially, she thought of going to YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, but after seeing the mess created by the CBI inquiry against him, she preferred to keep herself away from Jagan. The only best option left to her is to join the Congress party.
It remains to be seen whether her meeting with the Chief Minister is for the same purpose or not.
